3-Adolescent Dog I - The Foundation

Course Details

  • 6 week course (includes orientation)
  • Adolescent 6m - 11m
  • Small dogs (under 15lbs) are welcome to join the puppy classes if owner prefers.
  • Cost $115 effective Jan 2017

This class is for the dogs that are no longer puppies but have turned into young adolescents.  We run into different issues during this time period and want to spend time with those issues.  

This class is not for the dog that is aggressive.  Reactive dogs, depending on the intensity may be allowed in class.  Aggressive dogs will not be allowed in the class.

Orientation

Manners and Etiquette I class has orientation the first night. Your dog stays home for the orientation.  This gives you the opportunity to meet us and get answers to the questions you have.  The orientation is approximately 1.5 hours.  We require that you bring your dogs vaccine record.  Credit card, cash and check are accepted at this time.  We will introduce you to our training methods plus:
  • What is needed for class
  • Learning Theory - how dogs learn by operant and classical conditioning (associations).
  • Reinforcements - What they are and how to use them.
  • Problem Prevention
  • Jumping
  • Nipping, biting and chewing
  • Cue System
  • You will be taught a couple exercises to take home and teach your dog.

Adolescents dogs also need handling and socialization. The sooner these things are taught the better.
